Bees shot down by Jets

Final Score: Slough Jets 5-1 Bracknell Bees
After dominating most of the first period, the Bees hopes of recording a valuable away victory in Slough, flickered like the Hangar's lights.
The Bees were unfortunately missing Martin Masa through illness, but went into the game resplendent in new black and camouflage jerseys being worn for the Army Benevolent Fund.
A strong start saw the Bees deservedly take the lead at 5:41, when James Galazzi diverted a Matt Foord pass low past Gregg Rockman. Scott Spearing also assisting.
The Bees threatened to extend their lead, but unfortunately were pegged back only two minutes from the end of the period when Mindy Kieras fired a shot from the blue line past a screened Tom Annetts.
Thirty seconds later and the lights went out - literally as the Hangar's system crashed apparently due to local electrical power surges, bringing the period to a premature end.
Like the lights, the Bees unfortunately struggled through the remainder of the match. Two Slough goals within fifty seconds of each other half way through the game seemed to turn the tide firmly in favour of the hosts, who outshot the Bees 38 to 22 in the second and third periods. Any hopes of a Bees comeback were quashed at 43:35 with a Doug Sheppard strike and ten minutes from the end, Joe Greener wrapped things up.
Matt Foord deservedly picked up the Bees man of the match award for yet another positive, spirited performance, but overall the team will reflect on the failure to maintain their impressive opening momentum.
